ENG 230 - Survey of American Literature I This course surveys American literature from the pre-colonial period to the Civil War. The roots of the American experience and the major currents in American thought are discussed. Significant works of American writers, traditional and non-traditional, are studied for their literary value and in their historical and philosophical contexts. Prerequisite(s): ENG110 English Composition I 3 credits
